Certification

Renewal & professional growth

Professional certificates are kept current through ongoing learning — a rhythm of growth for Christian educators.

A Professional Certificate is valid for five years and is renewed by earning In-Service Points (ISPs) — units of professional growth that keep educators fresh, engaged, and growing in their craft.

120

ISPs to renew, earned within the certificate period

1 ISP

per clock hour (50 minutes) of in-service instruction

20 ISPs

per semester hour of college credit

Points come from conventions and conferences, approved seminars, college coursework, on-campus in-service sessions, and service to FACCS. Up to 30 of the 120 may be non-educational (such as Bible or ministry conferences); the rest should relate to your teaching field.

Master In-Service Program (MIP)

Schools register with the MIP each year so their educators' in-service points count. In-service opportunities are pre-approved through the MIP, and at renewal time an educator requests an ISP transcript as proof that the requirement has been met.

Philosophy of Christian Education

A course required for Professional certification at every level. Worth at least one college credit (or six instructional hours), it covers a Christian worldview, biblical integration, and a philosophy of teaching, discipline, and curriculum. A qualifying ACSI certificate can satisfy this requirement.
