Brain Bowl is a buzzer-based, quiz-bowl-style academic team competition that fosters an attitude of academic challenge — a chance for students to develop poise through quality Christian competition.
Who can take part: Participation is limited to students from FACCS member schools.
How it works
Teams of three to six students face off answering rapid toss-up questions; each correct answer earns the team a bonus question to confer on. Both team and individual scores are tracked. Only paper, pencils, and the rules are permitted at the table — no phones, calculators, or reference tools.
Divisions & format
Brain Bowl is held at the state level (there are no regional events), with separate Middle School (grades 6–8) and High School (grades 9–12) divisions. High school teams compete over two days, with preliminary rounds narrowing the field to the top ten finalists; middle school teams compete in a single day.
Recognition
Trophies go to the top high school teams, plaques and ribbons to placing teams, and standout individual scorers earn individual awards.
