General
PBA seeks to hire college graduates, that are certified by the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and School (FACCS). All teachers should feel called of God to the teaching profession.  The teacher shall be a person of spiritual maturity with academic and leadership abilities that will allow the teacher to “train up a child in the way he should go.”

Responsibilities
The teacher has the major responsibility of instruction in the assigned curriculum area.  In the implementation of this responsibility, he/she is expected to:

  1. Teach regularly scheduled classes as assigned.
  2. Be informed as to the spiritual, academic, physical and social development     of each student they teach.
  3. Employ those instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for  creative, interesting and enthusiastic teaching.
  4. Accomplish educational goals established by PBA.

 
Teaching Tasks
In order to accomplish the above responsibilities, the teacher will do the following:

  1. Ensure that adequate preparations have been made to accomplish objectives established for the class(es) assigned.
  2. Plan broadly through the use of course and unit plans and objectives; and   weekly in Gradelink.
  3. Maintain adequate records of attendance and grades to meet the demands of the state, and the requests of the administration, and one’s own need for knowledge of student progress.
  4. Make homework assignments for drill, review, enrichment, or project work sufficiently in advance of the due date so that the student will learn personal responsibility, the joy of self-study and be sufficiently informed to handle the work at his grade level.
  5. Attend and participate in all regularly scheduled PTO meetings, general faculty meetings, monthly team meetings and extracurricular activities as assigned by the administration.
  6. Provide loving and firm direction for the children in the assigned class.
  7. Provide for the safety and well-being of the students by never leaving students unsupervised in the classroom, on the playground, during extracurricular activities, etc.
  8. Communicate effectively and regularly with parents concerning the progress and growth of their child(ren).
  9. Cooperate with other teachers and the school administration in order to assure a smoothly-running program.
  10. Request instructional aids and materials for classroom use.
  11. Plan through the administration the use of field trips, guest lecturers, and other media for creative and interesting learning.
  12. Take advantage of those opportunities that will improve professional development by continuing to read both within and outside one’s own area of teaching and by continuing graduate courses of study.
