Job Description
Preschool Teacher
A Turning Point Christian Academy preschool teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment for young children. This role involves teaching foundational academic skills, fostering social and emotional development, and incorporating Biblical principles into daily lessons and activities. The teacher partners with parents and the church community to nurture the spiritual growth of each child.
Duties and Responsibilities
Spiritually
- Model Christian values and a Christ-like attitude in speech, actions, and relationships
- Incorporate Biblical teachings into daily lessons and classroom activities
- Lead prayers, Bible stories, worship songs, and discussions on faith-based topics
- Encourage children to develop a personal relationship with Jesus
Instructionally
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons that align with Christian values and early childhood education standards
- Use creative and engaging teaching methods, including hands-on activities, storytelling, music, and art
- Foster a love for learning by creating an interactive and stimulating classroom environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers
- Assess and monitor students' progress, providing individualized instruction as needed
- Encourage the development of early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of each student
- Value instructional minutes by translating lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports and report cards
- Participate in the school’s staff development programs and cultivate professional growth through other educational in-service activities
Classroom Management & Student Development
- Establish and maintain a structured, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment
- Guide children in developing social skills, cooperation, and self-regulation
- Encourage positive behavior using age-appropriate discipline strategies grounded in Christian principles
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students
- Follow all school policies, state regulations, and child safety guidelines
- Supervise students for out-of-classroom activities during the school day
Parent & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and spiritual growth.
- Foster strong relationships between home, school, and church communities.
- Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and church-related activities as needed.

Spiritual Qualifications
- Born again believer, has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and has a growing relationship with the Lord
- Accepts the Bible as the Word of God
- Participation in a local church in agreement with the TPCA statement of faith
Academic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC
- Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational or church setting
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching strategies
